This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

}}
:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Global sysop for Tulsi Bhagat

Transparency: Steward requests/Global permissions/2019-03#Global sysop for Tulsi Bhagat

Hello! Many thanks for putting your trust in me. To be honest, my activity is limited since I received GR. It's because of events and outreach i took part on (page is not up-to-date). Hopefully, I am active on various IRC channels and keep on monitoring xWiki for vandals, spam or LTAs. I've 0.65 xWikiness. I would like to request GS a bit to directly deal with spambots/xWikivandals/LTAs whenever they appears. I've read and understood the GS policy and information, and I assure you I will abide by it. Additionally, the timezone UTC+5:45 i am living in, will surely benefit. Also, I am experienced of using sysop toolkit being an admin here on Meta-Wiki, Wikimedia Commons, etc. I hope the community would give me chance to serve as a GS too.

PS, My name is Tulsi Bhagat, and I am not a cross-wiki abuse. Thank you for your consideration! Kind regards, — Tulsi Bhagat (contribs | talk) 09:32, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for global rename permissions

Global rename for Xaosflux

Not ending before 9 March 2020 03:33 UTC
Hello all, I'm a bureaucrat, admin, and oversighter from enwiki and local meta-wiki oversighter and admin. I am familiar with the policy and am available to help with the rename queue. As a local oversighter, we occasionally get requests referring to the private rename system (generally declining with explanations) so being able to see the comments from Special:GlobalRenameRequests would be useful when processing such requests as well. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your consideration, — xaosflux Talk 03:33, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Done Clear consensus. @Trijnstel: Please add Xaosflux to mailing list. Thanks! --Sotiale (talk) 07:29, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for Aldnonymous

Not ending before 15 March 2020 09:10 UTC

I was previously global renamer that got removed due to inactivity (about same reason as to why my GS removed due to inactivity), I'm asking this permission to be restored as there are no Indonesian global renamer available (except one who are currently on hiatus), and other global renamer had to ask rationale in Indonesian quite many times. I am also able to handle all request for most asian language. I am currently a Global Sysops, Indonesian Wikipedia Administrator and Meta Administrator, thank you.--AldnonymousBicara? 09:10, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for Nosebagbear

Not ending before 16 March 2020 15:20 UTC

Hi all, I'm an en-wiki Admin and an OTRS agent. Both of these provide some of my reasoning to requesting the user-right. Through my unblock request & UAA work in the former, there are cases where an otherwise resolved case can get snarled up and would be eased by having the right. While there are of course some routes around, with the usual inexperience of most requesting editors, it would be beneficial to be able to handle it myself. OTRS also has instances where it would be helpful to be able to process it myself, rather than needing to divert editors through another inbox I don't have access to. I'd also anticipate working the general renaming queue(s).

Please let me know if you have any questions. I don't currently have a language userbox (I'm purely a native English speaker), but would be happy to add one. Nosebagbear (talk) 15:20, 2 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for FerdiBf

My IP is blocked and the alledged reason is "Open Proxy". I am an author in the German wikipedia with more than 18k edits and more than 400 articles. I have no idea, why this block applies to me. I am not aware of anything that I could have done wrong. It happens from time to time that I am blocked for a short while which is very annoying. A global exemption would be very helpful, thanks --FerdiBf (talk) 19:12, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not that I have any issue with granting you the exemption, but maybe you use a VPN or similar tool? Would you be willing to share the error message to stewards@wikimedia.org, so we can check the block was really placed correctly, and that you are, for some reason, indeed connecting via an open proxy? --Martin Urbanec (talk) 19:27, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the German error message:
Du bist aus dem folgenden Grund nicht berechtigt, die Seite zu bearbeiten:
Deine IP-Adresse befindet sich in einem Bereich, der auf allen Wikis der Wikimedia Foundation gesperrt ist.
Die Sperre wurde durchgeführt von Vituzzu (meta.wikimedia.org). Der angegebene Grund ist hosting service with open proxies such as 84.16.242.158 .
Beginn der Sperre: 11:16, 21. Jan. 2018
Ablauf der Sperre: 11:16, 21. Jan. 2023
Deine aktuelle IP-Adresse ist 84.16.242.156 und der gesperrte Bereich ist 84.16.224.0/19. Bitte beziehe alle obigen Einzelheiten in all deinen Anfragen ein.
It basically says that I would use "open proxies", whatever this exactly may mean. I even don't know what I could change. This differs from an earlier message which proposed to ask for an exception and which had directed me to this page. That's the current status. Presently I cannot make any edits. Any hint what I could do would be highly appreciated.--FerdiBf (talk) 16:42, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It worked fine for a few days but now the blocked status is back. Please help.--FerdiBf (talk) 18:38, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for AsharaDayne

Hello, I come from China Mainland. I am an active editor of Chinese Wikipedia. For reasons known to all, I need a VPN to login in it currently. I need the permission for editing links on Wikidata. Thanks. --AsharaDayne (talk) 09:14, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

AsharaDayne, could you comment your English Wikipedia block, please? --Base (talk) 08:18, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Base, I had some edit wars with other editors because I didn't know the rules at that time. But the reason why they banned me was unacceptableby, the administrator of English Wikipedia thought I was another user's dummy account according to en:Wikipedia:The duck test. AsharaDayne (talk) 11:16, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@AsharaDayne: The block should be appealled to Unblock Ticket Request System. You should explicitly state whether you are the alleged sock master in your unblock request. (You are not banned.)--GZWDer (talk) 16:10, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@GZWDer:, Thanks, I will try it. AsharaDayne (talk) 07:48, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Davidwhy

Hello! I am from China Mainland. Because zh.wikipedia.org is blocked on the China GFW, I cannot access Wikipedia without an open proxy or a VPN. I had, and will, only edit when there is some small minor errors. So, if you could give me a global IP block exempt, I would be very grateful. Thanks, --DavidwhyDavidwhy (talk) 03:58, 15 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Davidwhy, do you intend to edit other wikis than zh.wikipedia.org? If not, a local Chinese Wikipedia exemption, zh:Wikipedia:IP封禁例外, would do you a better job than the global one. --Base (talk) 14:15, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Davidwhy, ? --Base (talk) 04:46, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Thank you! --DavidWhy

Hansei Hakuryuu, done. Please note that on other wikis you might also be affected by local blocks and global flag does not help with those. You will have to request local exemption in such cases just as you have a local one in zhwiki, --Base (talk) 12:52, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for SteepPeak

I'm a user from Mainland China. Though I already have local ipblock-exempt right locally on zhwiki, but some Global IP block stops me from editing other wikimedia projects, so I'm here to request for a global-ipblock-exempt right, thanks, --# SteepPeak 14:37, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Have a good time! --Sotiale (talk) 14:49, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for Cheetahzeng

Due to the famed en:Great Firewall, I need to use proxy. Due to that I need to apply for global-ip-block-exempt. Request for CAPTCHA-exempt for FNAFPUPPETMASTER

I'd like to get this permission so that I may use tools such as TwinkleGlobal on pages, as I was CSDing a page and it was stopped as it needed a captcha., thanks, --FNAFPUPPETMASTER (talk) 21:52, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you blocked in English Wikipedia? Ruslik (talk) 12:28, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Captcha-exempt is not mean to to be "global autoconfirm" - you should be able to use those scripts on any project you are even a casual editor of. — xaosflux Talk 14:40, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@FNAFPUPPETMASTER: can you answer the above points? Thanks.--Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 06:32, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ruslik0, Xaosflux, and Camouflaged Mirage: Sorry, I was busy with some things today, so I didn't get around to it. I am blocked on enwiki because I was immature a couple of years ago, and wanted to be sock-blocked, so I got blocked, then attempted to make more bad changes on a sock, but then I was reformed and after 7 or so months, I called myself out and opened a spi against myself. Second, I'm part of the small-wiki monitoring team, so I may make some changes on a wiki I had never been on, most likely {{speedy}}ing blatant vandalism that blanks the page. FNAFPUPPETMASTER (talk) 06:59, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@FNAFPUPPETMASTER: What project captcha you had problem with? And you are indef as a vandalism only account, so your account doesn't tally up. Can you explain more?--Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 15:22, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
"Vandalism that blanks the" page - that wouldn't normally need speedy deletion, it would need undo or rollback. — xaosflux Talk 16:21, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Xaosflux: By that, I mean new page creations, I usually blank those to hide vandalism if they are blatant vandalism. And @Camouflaged Mirage:, like I said before, I made only vandalistic changes to be blocked, so I could be sockblocked in the future, I belive. FNAFPUPPETMASTER (talk) 18:57, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the project was w:dty:, It was to my own usertalk, so I assume that I cannot do it to other articles. FNAFPUPPETMASTER (talk) 19:02, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, but I don't think they need this right. There is need but not that much that they can't type a CAPTCHA.--Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 08:13, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I also do not think the right is needed. FNAFPUPPETMASTER, you can create you account in all the wikis, in all but a few of them you will automatically become autoconfirmed in 4 days (only some wikis including Meta also have some number of edits threshold) and from then on you will not need to deal with CAPTCHA. --Base (talk) 12:59, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've withdrawn my request due to just being able to do it manually, with the captcha; as well as using Krinkle's Global SUL tool to make an account on every wiki. That way i'll get autoconfirmed in a couple days. FNAFPUPPETMASTER (talk) 14:36, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

API high limit requestors for DannyS712

Hi. I'd like to request global API high limit requestors rights. Since the documentation for this right is fairly brief, I'll explain what it does: it grants the user apihighlimits, which allows querying for more data at once via the api. I do a lot of queries via the api, both in the course of my normal editing and when troubleshooting my bots, and this will simply make things easier for me. The sole way it can be abused that I see (not posting per BEANS) does not apply to me. It is already included in the global sysops and global bots groups (among others) and generally bundled with sysop and bot access. It does not grant any extra editing powers or on-wiki functionality, but rather makes api queries easier by increasing the maximum batch size. I'm happy to answer any questions. Since there is no established policy that I could find regarding access to this right, there is no "not ending before ___" included at the top of this request, but it is not urgent. Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 19:29, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
