Global IP block exempt for Xu Qinpeng
- Global user: Xu Qinpeng (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
<Hello, I'm from China. Due to government policy reasons, I am now using a VPN to log in to Wikipedia. I am an encyclopedia fan and have a certain knowledge reserve in finance, economics and accounting. A few years ago, I had a period of editing on Wikipedia, and now my IP is blocked, I am surprised And very frustrated, I now want to go back to Wikipedia and continue to contribute to Wikipedia, Hope the administrator can pass my application, thank you very much! > --Xu Qinpeng (talk) 03:25, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Xu Qinpeng: Hello, given you contribute only to zhwiki, could you rather email unblock-zh@lists.wikimedia.org, and ask for a local exemption? --Martin Urbanec (talk) 09:19, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
@Martin Urbanec:Glad to get your reply! As you said, I only edited on zhwiki before. That was because my English was not very good a few years ago. Now my English has been improved to be able to edit in enwiki, and the reason why I found out I was blocked It was discovered when I tried to edit enwiki, so I really hope to get an exemption, thank you very much!--47.240.74.228 07:23, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- Sadly, enwiki blocks proxies also locally, so you wouldn't be able to edit enwiki even with the global exemption. You need to email unblock-zh@lists.wikimedia.org for the zh exemption and checkuser-en-wp@wikipedia.org for the en exemption. Best, --Martin Urbanec (talk) 22:11, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
- I understand what you mean, thanks for your patience to explain! --47.240.74.228 00:32, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
- Please advise whether you are still in need of global exemption, if yes, I consider you'll need to comment with your reason. Thanks. --Hamish 13:33, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
- Locally granted on enwp for 3 months. Seems sufficient for the case I guess?Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 13:42, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you all for your help. I have understood the relevant rules. At the beginning, I thought that I had the global exemption and I could edit it normally. Now I know that even if I have the global exemption , I still need to apply for a local exemption , so I don’t need the global exemption for now. Camouflaged Mirage's suggestion has been implemented, and I have received three months of enWiki IP exemption, thank you for your advice!--Xu Qinpeng (talk) 05:57, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
Not done then. Let us know if you need the global one again. --Martin Urbanec (talk) 14:34, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for Lvzx
- Global user: Lvzx (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
--Super Wang hates PC You hate, too? 08:21, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for DrizzleD
- Global user: DrizzleD (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
I'm from mainland China and there's a certain need to use a VPN to contribute to wikipedia. I've already gotten an local IPBE on zhwp, however I found that when I tried to add a cross-language link from zh:单位双曲线 to en:Unit hyperbola, an error message occurred, saying "You do not have the permissions needed to carry out this action." I think a global IPBE may help. Thanks, --DrizzleD (talk) 03:54, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
- Done. --Sotiale (talk) 10:30, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for Bernard yi
- Global user: Bernard yi (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
<Hello,The User comes from China. Being limited by a VPN and government's policy,I could hardly edit zhwikipedia and zhwikiquote. I would appreciate it if you could help me to have a Global IP block exemption.>,Thanks, --Bernard yi (talk) 06:51, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
- Done. but @Bernard yi:, please note that this does not exempt local block. If editing is blocked in zhwp, you should request IPBE from zhwp admin. --Sotiale (talk) 10:39, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
Global IP block exempt for SMALLXX128
- Global user: SMALLXX128 (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
This user from China is caught using VPN or Open proxy when uploading files to Commons. They allowed me to request GIPBE on their behalf as they are not confident with their English. Thanks. --Super Wang hates PC You hate, too? 08:14, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
- Done. --Sotiale (talk) 10:31, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

Abuse filter maintainer for Huji
- Global user: Huji (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Not ending before 26 April 2020 00:42 UTC
I became a Global Sysop back in August 2018 primarily to help with maintenance of abuse filters on different wikis. Later, the scope of my GS responsibilities was expanded to include all other things GS members do. In practice, I rarely used it outside of abuse filter related activities, and that would foreseeably remain the same. In contrast, as a MW developer with special focus on AbuseFilter extension, I would like to remain helpful in that front. Therefore, I would like to ask for my GS right removed, and instead to be given the abuse filter maintainer (AFM) right. This would essentially reduce my access to all that I really intend to use. Thanks, --Huji (talk) 00:42, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

Abuse filter maintainer for billinghurst
- Global user: billinghurst (edits (alt) • CA • global groups • crossactivity • verify 2FA)
- Discussion: I am writing global abuse filters, and it is sometimes difficult to test edits that get through the spam filters at some wikis (global sysop rights wikis != global abuse filter wikis). Additionally as we have the ability to now exclude wikis per AF rule based on wikiname, these will be best tested in situ against recent edits (noting that from meta you cannot globally test/examine global filters retrospectively). Will happily assist wikis seeking advice with filters, or assist in cleanups with code changes as required—which I have done previously.
I currently have global sysop and interface rights, and have admin rights on several wikis and have previously had other advanced global and local rights. — billinghurst sDrewth 09:06, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
