Steward requests/Global permissions

This is an archived version of this page, as edited by Krd (talk | contribs) at 04:37, 26 January 2021 (requesting removal of global OTRS member flag for Jeblad). It may differ significantly from the current version.

This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global sysops policy.

Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

Global sysop for Uncitoyen

Not ending before 29 January 2021 20:33 UTC

Hello everyone. I have been contributing to different Wikimedia projects for 10 years. For the last year, my free time has increased due to Covid-19, so I generally started to contribute more to wiki projects. Since 2014, I have had admin experiences on different wiki projects (Turkish Wikinews, Turkish Wikisource, Wikimedia Turkey, Turkish Wiktionary). I have been an administrator on Turkish Wikipedia for 5 years and have been a checkuser for the last year there. I'm a global renamer for the last 6 months. Before I became a global renamer, I did cross-wiki activity on 290 wikis as far as I was calculated. Although this number isn't more than 350 wikis at the moment, I think it is close to this number. Maybe these numbers may be small for someones, because these are subjective. But for the last 6 months, I have been trying to make requests on the SRG and global sysop requests. Generally I tried to keep my cross-wiki activity balanced. I have been serving as a Meta-admin for 2 weeks. Also I am 6th non-global sysop user have the most edits for the last 10 months, since Global sysops/Requests was opened. See: [1] My cross-wiki activity has decreased a little over the last month because my real life, but it won't cause a huge inactivity. Last year and this year, some global sysops were also removed per inactivity policy as usual. I think this year I will be more helpful for other global sysops and small wikis with the effect of the pandemic. 2FA is open already. Thanks for your comments and questions. --Uncitoyentalk 20:33, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Uncitoyen: Apologies. Still Strong support Strong support. BlackWidowMovie0 (talk) 16:19, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for CptViraj

Not ending before 2 February 2021 04:32 UTC

Hi. I started my SWMT work in October 2019, became a global rollbacker in February 2020 and an abuse filter helper in March 2020. I'm a sysop on Commons and here on Meta. I've made some mistakes in my journey, like this and this but percentages of mistakes is significantly low, also I've always apologized and have tried to revert the mistake. I'm available on the Freenode IRC under the nick CptViraj and/or sometimes Firaag and have frequently used #wikimedia-gsconnect and #wikimedia-stewardsconnect to report abuse. My SWMT activity had dropped moderately in last few months because of the new roles I got and some RL issues but I believe I now have enough time to actively work on anti-vandalism/spam, GS tools will help me to quickly block vandals, spammers and LTAs, I'll also help at GSR and SRM. Thanks! -- CptViraj (talk) 04:32, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for Waggers

Not ending before 28 January 2021 13:37 UTC

I have been an administrator on the English language Wikipedia for nearly 14 years and an active contributor to several other Wikimedia projects. On en-wp I frequently patrol the Usernames for Admin Attention (UAA) board. On that project we have many users who subsequently request an unblock and rename, following action taken at UAA. I would like to be a global renamer so that I can assist with that backlog of unblock requests, renaming users and granting unblocks where appropriate, as an extension to the work I do at UAA. Global IP block exempt for Alexis Zhang

When reviewing new articles at zhwiki I tried to link them to Wikidata database but failed due to using a open proxy to bypass the Firewall so that I can access Wikipedia. Thanks. -- Alexis Zhang 16:27, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alexis Zhang, Done, please be aware that you might also need local rights if you run into a local rather than a global IP block. --Base (talk) 03:43, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ombud for 2021 commission

Thanks! -- CptViraj (talk) 12:52, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Removed two, already has bits.
  2. Waiting for missing signature, rest done. Not marking as done to prevent bot thinking this was done. (Done guys are marked as on hold) — regards, Revi 15:59, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Faendalimas does not have 2FA enabled. WMF requires 2FA on for OC. — regards, Revi 16:04, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also Moheen and ProtoplasmaKid. — regards, Revi 16:09, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Faendalimas, Moheen, and ProtoplasmaKid: Please enable 2FA from Special:Preferences. WMF requires 2FA to be enabled at all times while you hold some user rights, such as OC. We are not able to grant you OC permission until you have 2FA set. — regards, Revi 16:10, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Mine should be sorted now, thanks. Cheers Scott Thomson (Faendalimas) talk 18:27, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@-revi: All done. Regards. ~Moheen (keep talking) 18:38, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Faendalimas done, Moheen waiting for WMF to add to IN. — regards, Revi 18:46, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ouch, WMF added the signature while I was typing it. Moheen added. That leaves ProtoplasmaKid to the queue. After adding 2FA, please post in this page because we will need to perform another 2FA check (this is not automatic). — regards, Revi 18:47, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
