This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Requests for global sysop permissions

}}
:''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+2 week}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

Global sysop for Savh

Not ending before 5 March 2021 22:36 UTC

Hi, I'd like to re-apply to the Global Sysop group. I previously was one from July 2011 onwards, nearly ten years ago. I was later elected steward in 2014, and resigned from that position in 2017. The last couple of months I have been quite active again as a part of the SWMT (now using SWViewer), and I think having access to the Global Sysop toolset would be beneficial to intervene in certain situations without the need to call on others for deletions and blocks. As mentioned in my past requests, I'm bilingual Dutch & Spanish, and understand a few other Latin and Germanic languages. Aside from my global activities, I'm a sysop on the Spanish Wikipedia and on the Spanish Wikibooks. Savhñ 22:36, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for global rename permissions

Global rename for Geonuch

Not ending before 7 March 2021 07:16 UTC

Hello everyone. I would like to help users through renaming process especially users by Thai community. I understand that no global renamers who have Thai language skill at this time (see User talk:Geonuch#Renaming) and my home wiki (Thai Wikipedia) has a frequent problem that needs to request for changing username (such as, [1], [2], [3], [4], etc.). I'm active on many Thai Wikimedia projects and have sysop right on thwiki, thwikibooks, and thwikisource. I have understood global rename policy and hope that I will be of benefit of the community. Best regards, --Geonuch (talk) 07:16, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for Civvì

Not ending before 19 March 2021 21:16 UTC

Hello! I am an admin and bureaucrat on itwiki and OTRS member, I would mainly help with the requests coming from italian users. I've read the global rename policy. Thank you. --Civvì (talk) 21:16, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for Leaderboard

Not ending before 19 March 2021 22:26 UTC

I am an en.wikibooks, MediaWiki sysop and a Meta patroller and want to help users in renaming their accounts. I plan to start with simple and uncontroversial renames in English first (given that this is an advanced and risky permission), before moving on later to the other languages I can read (hi) and speak (ml) (I do not plan to handle other languages for now given their policy differences). Thanks in advance for your consideration, and apologies if I've gotten something wrong.

Note: On the subject of renames, I was blocked in en.wiki (see my talk page there) as a new user at the end of 2013 as my username was considered promotional. While the block was correct back then, it happened due to my immaturity at that time and do not think that it should be an issue anymore.

P.S: Both en.wikibooks and mediawiki.org redirect their rename pages to Meta.

Leaderboard (talk) 22:26, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Oppose IMO global renamer should be one who appreciates constructive criticism and nice when communicating with other users but I don't like the way you interact with other users especially this instance where you called an established user's request "junk". Also here when you were told that your deletion was wrong, you tried to make your own policy. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 03:39, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Instructions for making a request

Before requesting global IP block exemption, make sure that:

  1. You have a global account ;
  2. You are logged in on this wiki, and the account is part of your global account;
To request global IP block exemption

 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}}
}}
<Add an explanation here>, thanks, --~~~~

The request will be approved if there is demonstrated need for the permission, such as bypassing a global block from someone who is not the intended target.

Global IP block exempt for FradonStar

The user comes from China mainland and has got the local IPBE on Chinese Wikipedia. He wants to contribute to Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, and English Wikipedia, etc. And he is not allowed to edit meta due to his VPN, I just help him to publish the requestion.--瑞丽江的河水 (talk) 15:29, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for AraAve

My IP was globally blocked, please unblock me or please say what I must do, thanks, --AraAve (talk) 10:49, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for امین اکبر

I could open commons.wikimedia.org. There is "This site can’t be reached" error. However, on other IP range I can visit this. I also could not use WikiData due to IP range block, thanks, --Ameen Akbar (talk) 17:13, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@امین اکبر Not being able to reach commons.wikimedia.org sounds like a connectivity issue rather than a block. Are you seeing an explicit "editing blocked" message? If so, would you mind sharing it here, or emailing to stewards@wikimedia.org? Martin Urbanec (talk) 19:58, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2FA Tester for SchlurcherBotT

I would like to try 2 Factor Auth in a bot setting, thanks. I have generated a separate account for this, so the account is brand new. My operational bot account is SchlurcherBot, with 50'000'000 edits on Wikimedia Commons. --Schlurcher (talk) 08:53, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2FA Tester for EstrellaBot

I would like to try 2 Factor Auth for my bot-account. My reason for wanting it can be read at Help talk:Two-factor authentication but basically I'm applying for local adminship for the bot and I'm sure both myself and the community would feel safer knowing the account has 2FA enabled. A botflagged account with admin rights simply cannot get compromised, it would be catastrophic. Although I do use great passwords and would never use the account on any unsafe connections I would like to go the extra mile to ensure that doesn't happen. And I would like to try out the 2FA before I get the adminflag, in case I do indeed get the OK, so that I know what I'm doing with the 2FA and especially with the BotPasswords & AWB part of it. I've never used a 2FA application before but I have read Help:Two-factor authentication thoroughly and I also tried BotPasswords on a test account which worked fine. Signing with bot as well. EstrellaBot (talk) 19:23, 5 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse filter helper for 1997kB

Not ending before 9 March 2021 05:31 UTC

Hello everyone, I am asking this permission mainly to inspect private global filter log entries with little ease. I mostly patrol Indic wiki projects and to view such abuse logs I have to come to metawiki (where I have access to them being a sysop). This is really time consuming and complicated especially since I do a lot such activity on mobile. Therefore having this will save my time and effort. I also have abuse filter helper on enwiki and know little bit about filters too. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 05:31, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
