Steward requests/Global permissions

This is an archived version of this page, as edited by Holder (talk | contribs) at 12:14, 29 January 2021 (→‎Requests for other global permissions: remove global sysops rights for Holder). It may differ significantly from the current version.

This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback , global sysop , global rename , …) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request

 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Global sysop for Uncitoyen

Not ending before 29 January 2021 20:33 UTC

Hello everyone. I have been contributing to different Wikimedia projects for 10 years. For the last year, my free time has increased due to Covid-19, so I generally started to contribute more to wiki projects. Since 2014, I have had admin experiences on different wiki projects (Turkish Wikinews, Turkish Wikisource, Wikimedia Turkey, Turkish Wiktionary). I have been an administrator on Turkish Wikipedia for 5 years and have been a checkuser for the last year there. I'm a global renamer for the last 6 months. Before I became a global renamer, I did cross-wiki activity on 290 wikis as far as I was calculated. Although this number isn't more than 350 wikis at the moment, I think it is close to this number. Maybe these numbers may be small for someones, because these are subjective. But for the last 6 months, I have been trying to make requests on the SRG and global sysop requests. Generally I tried to keep my cross-wiki activity balanced. I have been serving as a Meta-admin for 2 weeks. Also I am 6th non-global sysop user have the most edits for the last 10 months, since Global sysops/Requests was opened. See: [1] My cross-wiki activity has decreased a little over the last month because my real life, but it won't cause a huge inactivity. Last year and this year, some global sysops were also removed per inactivity policy as usual. I think this year I will be more helpful for other global sysops and small wikis with the effect of the pandemic. 2FA is open already. Thanks for your comments and questions. --Uncitoyentalk 20:33, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop for CptViraj

Not ending before 2 February 2021 04:32 UTC

Hi. I started my SWMT work in October 2019, became a global rollbacker in February 2020 and an abuse filter helper in March 2020. I'm a sysop on Commons and here on Meta. I've made some mistakes in my journey, like this and this but percentages of mistakes is significantly low, also I've always apologized and have tried to revert the mistake. I'm available on the Freenode IRC under the nick CptViraj and/or sometimes Firaag and have frequently used #wikimedia-gsconnect and #wikimedia-stewardsconnect to report abuse. My SWMT activity had dropped moderately in last few months because of the new roles I got and some RL issues but I believe I now have enough time to actively work on anti-vandalism/spam, GS tools will help me to quickly block vandals, spammers and LTAs, I'll also help at GSR and SRM. Thanks! -- CptViraj (talk) 04:32, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Global rename for Waggers

The following request is closed. Please do not modify it. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Not ending before 28 January 2021 13:37 UTC

I have been an administrator on the English language Wikipedia for nearly 14 years and an active contributor to several other Wikimedia projects. On en-wp I frequently patrol the Usernames for Admin Attention (UAA) board. On that project we have many users who subsequently request an unblock and rename, following action taken at UAA. I would like to be a global renamer so that I can assist with that backlog of unblock requests, renaming users and granting unblocks where appropriate, as an extension to the work I do at UAA. Waggers (talk) 13:37, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Granted. Clear consensus. --Sotiale (talk) 13:38, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Trijnstel: Could you invite Waggers to the mailing list? Thank you for your time! --Sotiale (talk) 13:38, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions. Please review Global IP block exemption. You may request Global IP block exemption via stewards(_AT_)wikimedia.org if you can not edit this page.
Please note: Global IP block exemption does NOT make one immune to locally-created blocks of any sort, only global blocks.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting global IP block exemption, make sure that:

  1. You have a global account ;
  2. You are logged in on this wiki, and the account is part of your global account;
To request global IP block exemption

=== Global IP block exempt for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===

Global IP block exempt for Hzy980512

I live in Mainland China and regularly make contributions on Chinese Wiktionary, but many of the proxies IP available to me are blocked so it is sometimes quite difficult for me to submit edits. I therefore would like a global IP block exempt permission, thanks. --Hzy980512 (talk) 03:29, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hzy980512, do you plan to work only at Chinese Wiktionary or in other projects too? If the former it might be a better idea to receive a local IPBE instead. --Base (talk) 09:44, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Base. Sometimes (but not that often) I work on other Chinese sister projects or even other languages, too. Chinese Wiktionary doesn't have many admins, doesn't have a page dedicated to requests for IPBE and hasn't banned many IPs locally so I came here to request a global IPBE. --Hzy980512 (talk) 10:38, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hzy980512, Done. The fact that there are few admins is not important, you can even request it on their talk pages, but as you edit multiple projects even if rarely it makes sense to give you the global flag. That being said if you run into a local IP block you will need to request local exemption, the global one is not helpful against those. --Base (talk) 10:15, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

MY FROM CHINA.I MUST USE PROXIES TO ACCESS WIKIMEDIA PROJECT.--CMPD19831== (talk) 09:52, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CMPD19831==, no need to shout :) Done, but please be aware that you might also need local IPBE flag if you run into a local block at some wiki. --Base (talk) 10:17, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @MarcoAurelio:, As the stewards leave their GR and/or GS rights, that doesn't bother me to lose this right to regain it in case of the loss of other rights. Logic: same rule as everyone. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 06:38, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
