There are differing interpretations of the inactivity clause of the steward policy and I would say that given we hold yearly reconfirmations it's much easier to just handle it this way. Personal info: Once again, I am pleased to see that the current body of stewards has, in the main, been able to support the corpus of Wikimedia projects relatively efficiently. I would like to continue supporting the projects as a steward, especially with global renames hopefully arriving this year, as I have years of experience with renames on my home wiki. I will also be serving as a member of the m:Ombudsman commission during 2014. Thank you for your past trust, and I hope to be able to continue to deserve it for this coming year.

Personal info: This is my third steward confirmation, as I've been elected in 2011. I've been quite active during this year of services. I've used the steward tools for various purposes, such as helping with crosswiki deletions and blocks. I also dealt with vandalism and spam and locked and blocked many users and IPs. I also did some right changes, mainly to my own account to prevent more abuse and to remove abusive things, but also changed many other people's rights. Personal info: Hi all, this is my second confirmation as a steward. It has been an honour to serve as a steward for the past two years and a half (roughly). I have been rather inactive during the later part of 2013, overwhelmed with real life commitments. Personal info: Hi, I would like to continue helping with steward duties for the next year if the community think that I have contributed as stewards for the past year. Thank you. Addendum: My past roles as stewards has been focused on SRs, and I also stand-by on steward's IRC channel on most days until couple months ago. If I'm confirmed again as a steward, I'm in the process of purchasing a new laptop to replace the broken one, and hopefully using my new machine I could be more active on IRC and answering requests.

Interested in the conjunction of ideas by Vogone, account locks are different from global IP blocks, so I am missing that point too, sounds personal. Apart from that the statements are an opinion not supported by fact. I have one of the highest block removal rates. Unblock requests are at SRG, open to all stewards, and visible to users, thoroughly reviewable. Comment Contentwise I agree with Vogone. I don't get anything out of locking accounts with no edits who will most likely never edit either (I did that for hundreds of socks in January which were created months ago and will never edit which is why I still don't think that this has been quite useful for Wikimedia); that was completely different a couple of years ago when real spambots created hundereds of index.php pages crosswiki on a daily base. And I am against pointless locking of spambot accounts. The issue is what is pointless? There are numbers of accounts that are locked with zero edits as they have been caught by the abuse filters. There are numerous accounts that are created and spam (and those that attempt to spam) on creation, there are those that are created and haven't spammed, until some of them spam one/two/three/.../six (day|months) later. When I investigating active spam, when I detect the other spambot accounts, 'lock them when you see them' is my approach, rather than go back and have to clean up their mess later. I certainly don't trawl the wikis looking for lonely spambot accounts. I think someone might say it's useless or almost useless but it is harmless for sure. I personally endorse lock on sight of software-generated accounts though the both views about it can peacefully live together ^^

I must also underline the "index.php attack" (along with the "test, just a test" series) was just the preparation of the current ongoing spamming. I don't see any decrease in spam but simply more effective countermeasures. We are currently experiencing a peaceful period in spam because of the strong actions taken by many people including the extraordinary efforts by Billinghurst, Trijnstel, INC, Beetstra, etc. Above all the aggressive spam-pit blocking campaign, the deep inspections on loginwiki, the reactive management of the abusefilter and the solid use of blacklists and COI-bots gave us the incredible results of managing 850 wikis with few then a dozen of incredible volunteers.
