  Hey, I'm Sammy, but you likely know me as TheresNoTime. I was previously a steward (2018 - 2020), and am standing for re-election after a break from Wikimedia projects for personal/mental health reasons.

  The sudden and unannounced break (and the concern it caused) is something I regret deeply - I believe as stewards we have a commitment to maintain a certain level of activity, and if re-elected I will ensure I devote the time needed to effectively contribute to the backlogs and assisting the global community.

  As I mentioned in my previous election statement, I am a checkuser and oversighter on my home wiki, the English Wikipedia. Since then, my proficiency in using these tools has increased tenfold. I was also a Meta administrator (RfA) during a portion of my stewardship, and used this access to maintain the spam blacklist and abuse filters.

  If re-elected, I can offer the steward team technical knowledge, previous experience with the tools, a familiarity with global policy and a good chunk of my free time. Not to mention my amazing jokes.

  As many kindly pointed out in my successful 2019 confirmation, I committed significant time to reducing SRG's backlog and being responsive on IRC - my work schedule for the foreseeable future lends itself to maintaining, if not increasing, this level of activity.

  Re-reading my 2020 confirmation, for which I was absent from Wikimedia projects and understandably did not pass, is somewhat emotional - I appreciate and understand the impact my contributions have, and wish to again step up and give back to the community.

  I hope you can support me based on my previous work, my current activity and my future commitment to the projects. Thank you.

Quite interestingly, log shows that TNT locked that after it was created roughly 10 minutes with the reason:"Long-term abuse: But There Is Time to Lock You".    Don't you think it is OK to have even half of all stewards drop out from their voluntary positions if the price of sticking around is high (personal health and possible loss of life of dedicated long term volunteer) for what is less than 5% of total stewardship work (which is by the way very much under-resourced and under-organized anyway)? If Wikimedia ecosystem needs to have super stable stewardship work done it should be fixed on the system level, rather than to have anyone individually take more burden they can carry at any point in time. No?

   @Rlink2: Personally, I just think it is way too quick going from a not-so-active admin to a CU/OS and meta admin -> steward within 8 months, even if she can do the job now. As I pointed out, there is also a lack of true cross-wiki activity which is crucial for a steward. Plus, looking back in contributions now, I don't even see many reports involving steward work and I don't remember seeing much on IRC either. Keep in mind: giving someone steward is giving someone access to everything on all Wikimedia wikis. There's no harm in waiting a year and eight months instead of eight months.    Zblace:

   • With cross-wiki experience: as you can see here, most edits cross-wiki were fixing phab:T162235. There are a few reverts cross-wiki (in maybe 5-6 wikis), but nothing significant and if TheresNoTime were to request global rollback (which is included in steward btw), the request likely would not pass due to a lack of cross-wiki experience. Keep in mind steward is a very cross-wiki/small-wikis role and as an enwiki admin, TheresNoTime's work would definitely just consist of small-wiki issues because you can't act as a steward on your homewiki (e.g. you can't give checkuser to someone on enwiki if you are an admin there) That being said, this is one issue and I wouldn't oppose someone over it, especially if they were a steward before, but...
   • With "moving up": TheresNoTime has only been back for 8 months after a break that lasted about one and a half years. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that going from enwiki admin back to CU/OS to metawiki adminship and now back to steward within 8 months is too quick, because as I pointed out above, steward is technically access to everything on all Wikimedia wikis and she has only had all the other additional rights again for, what, 6 months? My opinion with user rights is take it slow and get used to the rights you have already before requesting new ones. Even if TheresNoTime was a steward before, there's just not enough time back for me, for a right that gives access to so many things, and combined with the lack of cross-wiki experience and requests to stewards, it shows there is not really any need for her to be a steward.

My impression was that the prefered candidate on these elections User:Vermont (at least based on strong positions by few committee members) has less cross-wiki work and higher velocity of moving up + at how fewer edits (almost no mainspace page creations on home wiki) is a non-issue in their case.    I don't want to get into other candidates on the vote page for another candidate but Vermont has edits on over 400 wikis and reverts on most of them, as well as global sysop experience, so I think they have extensive cross-wiki experience.    Hi @Stemoc ! Yes - after waiting for email reply for a month I have to say I mostly agree, though I experienced 'to busy' to be active steward among non EN also. From what I can see @TheresNoTime was active one until serious health crisis. So your point of correcting this is misplaced and I would love to support initiative to correct this on the more systemic level. I have been on this project for 15 years and i have seen a lot of stewards come and go but apart from one admin from enwiki, the rest have been very poor in terms of performance as stewards, the reality was that most saw this as the next step after achieving whatever they could on the enwiki, this was more of a feather on their cap then actually doing work and another unfortunate trend was that most only spoke one language, a language already well-covered. A lot also claim to speak multiple languages, but when you look at their contribution on those wikis, its basically zero contribution. Stewards are a bit like ambassadors, they represent an area where help is desperately needed so when candidates claim to be able to speak those languages or be able to contribute to those languages wikis, we believe them. Four years ago when Sammy ran for stewardship, I opposed her citing No real contribution cross-wiki, we need cross-wiki editors to becomes Stewards, not people who stick to one wiki..we have enough of those who are generally inactive and even after she did become a steward, her crosswiki work was poor and just as predicted she became inactive. I have personally seen admins/bureaucrats from smaller language wikis handle being stewards here a lot better than admins/crats/Cu's from enwiki cause the workload on enwiki is higher so in my experience, its best if we avoided those that already have a lot on their platter as stewards, we have nearly 40 stewards right now but we still have backlogs going back a few months, 4 years back when i was last active here, we had 22 stewards and NO backlog so if people think adding more stewards will fix that issue, then they seriously have no idea how all this works.. its not about quantity, its about quality and as it stands, my oppose reason for sammy 4 years ago on her RfS still applies...Its nothing personal, I just hold a higher level of respect for this right than any other right and i want someone better, no the best available people to become stewards, someone who will appreciate and above all respect this right especially since its much harder to remove inactive and/or under performing stewards so the best thing possible is to get stewards who won't become inactive...Stemoc 08:19, 14 February 2022 (UTC)

   @Stemoc: I do not normally respond to votes, as I respect the right of every community member to voice their concerns—however it would be remiss of me to not address your comments regarding what was an incredibly challenging mental health issue.

   You are welcome to the opinion that the inactivity it caused makes me unsuitable to be a steward (though I would say you likely wouldn't have that opinion if I'd been physically injured), but I would respectfully ask on behalf of anyone else who may be struggling that you do not dismiss these as mere distractions as it is disrespectful.

   As you already know, I don't follow enwiki (for obvious reasons) and Zblace's last line was a bit incoherent, i thought he was talking about you being burnout on EN. I have had similar issues you have, oddly enough a few times caused by Wikipedia itself, i kept it quiet cause it was no one's business and i handled it by leaving for some time and returning after a short break.....until the last straw which forced me to leave for a very long time so i understand how this works, infact i have had PD for nearly 20 years now but you have to find a way around it and personally speaking, the best cause of action is not just taking breaks but also dropping responsibilities, the more you take, the worse it gets, oddly enough for me, i joined wikipedia back then to find something to do keep my mind occupied (MDD) but unfortunately my first MDE was brought upon by wikipedia itself and then 2nd and 3rd which forced me to resign back in 2009 and leave..i came back a year and a half later with this account opting to take lesser responsibilities which i did and it helped a lot...well atleast for a few years...If you want my opinion on this, then honestly the best thing to do is to take it easy, atleast in your case where i feel its much better if your dropped some responsibilities instead of taking more, you may have noticed my RfS votes and confirmations are more stringent than others cause i want whats best for this project and you may not like this but unlike others here, i do a deep dive of work done by each candidate and current stewards before i make my decision and in your case, i did feel like your lack of cross-wiki work over the last 4 years is below my own personal standards which i have for every current candidate or current stewards ...If you thought my earlier comments in reply to Zblace was intended towards you, that was not my intent and for that i apologize...I have been working on this project for a very long time and i have seen a sharp decline in candidates and quality of candidates over the last 4 years and as mentioned above and on other confirmations where i voted remove, we need more active stewards with cross-wiki experience and i personally felt you would not fulfil that criteria --Stemoc 13:44, 14 February 2022 (UTC)

I'm staying neutral here however, and I should remind her that this is a big obligation where, whilst voluntary, people will expect you to be in the right headspace.
