Ninth Liverpool Meetup

[edit]

Saturday, 21 September 2013, from 13:00

[edit]

Venue: The Richard John Blackler (Wetherspoon's), Units 1 & 2, Charlotte Row, Great Charlotte Street, Liverpool, L1 1HU
Coordinates: 53.406001°, -2.979312°
(Other suggestions welcome!)

This is the organisation page for the ninth Liverpool Wikimedia meetup. A wikimeet is a social gathering for Wikimedia enthusiasts. Where we...

  • Chat about Wikipedia, Wikimedia and any other topics we fancy.
  • Eat lunch and drink some beers (although beer isn't required, nor is lunch)

Wikimeets are mainly casual social events. You can expect to meet some very keen Wikipedians, however this is also an open invite for anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, projects re-using Wikipedia, and other collaborative wiki projects. Also wiki technology, MediaWiki, or discussing the business impact of mass collaboration. Anything of interest to Wikipedia:WikiProject Merseyside will also be relevant here. Feel free to come along and raise these discussions over a beverage of your choice.

Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

We will try to get the big table up the stairs at the back right. But it's often a busy pub, so this can't be guaranteed.

Please sign below if you intend to come. If you want a reminder closer to the time, please leave a note after your signature.

Apologies

  • Deskana. I will have just landed in the UK from two weeks in the USA, so I will be sufficient jet lagged to not make this feasible.

Wiki Loves Monuments starts on 1st September

Hi all, please excuse the spam, but you might like to discuss whether there will be anything locally to support the WLM competition, which the UK is joining for the first time this year. This meetup may be a bit late in the month, but I mention it just in case you can fit something in before 1st October. Perhaps a Wiki Takes, like the one being organized in Chester? Please have a look at the main website for competition details. Organizational queries can be posted at the Organizers' help desk. Or ping me. Four of us ventured forth with cameras after lunch.

Not all the photos we took were of the Grade I and II* buildings wanted for WLM, but we did take a few photos:

And we got some that did qualify:
