Agenda[edit]

Informal chitchat with no set agenda.

If you have some ideas for discussion topics, please put them below.

About the meet up[edit]

A social gathering for Wikimedia enthusiasts, where we...

  • Drink coffee and/or beer and some of us have Sunday lunch.
  • Chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy.

Mainly a casual social event. You can expect to meet some very keen Wikipedians, however this is also an open invitation to anyone interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, projects re-using Wikipedia, and other collaborative wiki projects. Feel free to come along and raise these discussions over a beer. Alcohol consumption is optional.

"The Commercial Rooms" is a Wetherspoons pub set in a former gentleman's club and meeting place for the city's merchants, built in 1811. It is a Grade II* listed building on Corn Street in Bristol city centre. Wifi and food are available.

Getting there[edit]

The pub is about 5 minutes walk from The Centre, a large open space served by numerous local bus routes, including park and rides services from Long Ashton (A370), Portway (A4 near M5 J18), Brislington (A4 Bath Road) and Lyde Green (A4174 ring road north east of the city, also serves the University of the West of England campus).

The bus and coach station, where longer bus routes from surrounding settlements and National Express coaches terminate, is about 10 minutes walk away. Megabus services call at a stop on Bond Street, which is also about 10 minutes walk away from the pub.

It is a 15-20 minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads railway station, the main station in Bristol with direct services to most parts of the country. Alternatively it is a 10-15 minute bus ride to The Centre on any of several routes.

Bristol Ferry Boats operate two routes around the Floating Harbour from Hotwells in the west to Temple Meads station in the east. Both The Centre and Castle Park stops are about 5 minutes walk from The Commercial Rooms.

How to spot us[edit]

A banner like one of these should be on our table

It's easy to find us, look for anyone with a Wikipedia lapel badge, T shirt or similar - or the banner on the left. We plan on being as close to the entrance as possible but may be further in if the pub is crowded.
